WHEN THE UNGODLY PROSPER

Scripture: Psalms 37:1-10

“The house of the wicked shall be overthrown:
but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.” Proverbs 14:11 (KJV)

We find ourselves in a period of time where the quest for riches drives many into unimaginable and abominable actions. Satan is always available to lure many into the depths of wickedness with the promise of fame, wealth and power. Many die in the process and are lost forever, while others succeed and become affluent and a source of envy to both the righteous and the unrighteous.
However, there is nothing new under the sun and David experienced this pattern of behaviour in the society of his time.

It can be disheartening to observe others prospering through wickedness, either by cheating, oppressing, killing, diabolical rituals and trading in iniquity, yet we all go to the same market. There is no special market for the righteous where things are significantly cheaper. But the mind and the promise of God is very clear, do not be envious or covetous of the seeming prosperity of the wicked. Do not, contemplate on whether to join them or not. God sees the terror and destruction that awaits them here on earth and in the world to come. This is absolutely not worth being envious about.

Instead of grumbling, we are to consider that God has promised most assuredly that the righteous shall flourish and prosper in the earth. The simple conditions spelt out are that we should trust in the Lord, do good, commit your plans into God’s hands, rest and wait patiently in the Lord and cease from wrath (forgive others).

PRAYER: Lord, grant me the power to prosper righteously

FAITH BYTE: I receive help from God to stop all envying and coveting, but rather to wait on the Lord.
