COMPLETE OBEDIENCE

Scripture: Judges 2:6-15

“So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this,
make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and
at peace with him”. 2 Peter 3:14 (NIV)

Feedback: Ponder on the result you got from releasing your faith.

Esau lost his birthright because he lacked the fortitude to endure the pains of hunger. King Saul lost the throne because he lacked the moral courage to obey God completely. He yielded to the lust of the eyes and of the flesh. David sinned with Bathsheba and eventually became a murderer because he yielded to momentary pleasure in disobedience to God.

The real battles are fought in the opportunities presented to us to either obey or disobey God. These situations usually appear to be cheap and easy. According to the key scripture, God gave the new generation Israelites over to the hands of their enemies because they walked in disobedience and served other gods. Jesus had the power to turn stone into bread but he chose to deny himself that momentary pleasure and obey God.

Obeying God, maintaining your testimony, and keeping the faith often comes with a price. But the prize we benefit is often tremendous, so we must endeavour to walk in complete obedience to God’s commands every step of the way.

Reflection: What will it cost me to walk in complete obedience to God’s words?

PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace to be able to stand in obedience to you at all cost, in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I endure hardness as a good soldier; that my life may please God.

This Week Walk of Faith: To show you’re in complete obedience, start with the great commission, preach the goodnews to at least two people this week.
