WISDOM: A WAY OF LIFE

Scripture: James 3:13-17

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God,
he gives generously to all without finding fault.” James 1:5a (NIV)

Why would God setup a process for us to gain wisdom? Why would He not, just give it to us? This is because asking for His wisdom and receiving it brings us into a relationship with Him. The wisdom we receive is not only information received, but also character learned. We observe who He is and we learn to behave like Him. We come to know Him better in the process.
His wisdom is readily available, but we must complete the process of asking him.

Have you found yourself in need of guidance in a particular situation? Pray for wisdom and your direction will become clear. If we were to pray for direction, God could only answer by giving us
information. However, when we pray for wisdom, God answers by changing us to become pure, gentle, full of mercy and bear good fruits. We are not to ask for wisdom only when we are in trouble,
we are to ask for wisdom daily because godly wisdom comes as we are changed. Godly wisdom comes as a training process to improve character. Wisdom is not just direction, it is a way of life.

Do you need wisdom from above? The critical step, often neglected, is to ask. How often do we try to figure things out on our own? How often do we ask others for advice before we ask God? Ask Him now. Ask often. Make the asking a regular part of your life. Do not wait until trouble comes; learn the mind of God now. He offers it to you generously.

PRAYER: Lord, give me grace to pass through the process of becoming wise in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I ask God for wisdom now and always. I refuse to wait until trouble comes my way in Jesus name.
