FOCUS ON JESUS

Scripture: Matthew 14:25-31

“The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble, he sits enthroned
between the cherubim, let the earth shake.” Psalm 99:1 (NIV)

Today, the internet gives us unrestricted access to all sorts of information. With this increasing consumption of information, we become susceptible and open to unwholesome and ungodly content that can influence our beliefs and values. Through this and other media, our enemy, the devil, can sink and drown unsuspecting believers with his version of the truth.

In the quest for knowledge and scientific facts that seemingly contradict their beliefs, some Christians get confused. For fear of being labelled as unenlightened or outdated, they succumb to popular worldviews. Be reminded that the enemy is out to convince people that the Bible is no longer relevant and that its laws and principles have become obsolete. Many in the church have been influenced by such thinking because they have decided to focus on the world-friendly approach to solutions.

Believers are lifeguards. We have been entrusted with the lives of many. We are in the business of saving souls. Rather than succumb to the ways of the world and the wiles of the enemy, our focus must be unrelenting evangelism. There is no room for compromise. When Peter focused on the storm-tossed sea, his view shifted to a worldview that the waves are more powerful than Jesus (v30).
Nothing is greater than the Lord. Your focus in Christ Jesus is the only means for staying afloat in the midst of this stormy world (v31). Hold firmly onto him.

PRAYER: Lord, continue to instruct me through the Holy Spirit on how to focus on you in the midst of world problems in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I am focused on the Lord and my God-given purpose is being fulfilled.
