THE SPIRITUAL MAN

Scripture: Ephesians 4:17-31

“But the natural man does not receive the things of the
Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he
know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)

A man who the Holy Spirit dwells in is a spiritual man. This man’s character, and approach to life differs from that of a natural man. This is because of the presence of the Holy Spirit inside of him that quickens and enables him beyond the limitation of his natural self. The natural man, on the other hand, sees him and his ways as foolish (1 Corinthians 2:14).

The spiritual man understands the way of God and therefore, submits to his will. The spiritual man is not moved by vain things or by the flesh (v17-18) and he is not ruled by his emotions because he understands that the spirit controls the flesh (v29-31). The Holy Spirit, which dwells in him, illuminates his heart to the truth of God’s word (v22; John 14:6; 16:13) and gives him understanding so he does not operate on human wisdom.

The world system thrives on emotion, logic and self. But this is not how God operates. As a believer, your eyes must be spiritually open to comprehend what God desires of you per time. You must desire and grow to the point where you are in sync with God. This can only come from spending time with the Word. Your partnership with the Holy Spirit will take you beyond the limitations of human and conventional wisdom. As a spiritual man, allow God to instruct you.
