WHEN GOD IS SILENT

Scripture: 1 Samuel 5:1-12

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
Psalms 46:1(NIV)

Have you ever been through a situation where you almost concluded that God was absent? That was what Israel’s situation can be likened to when the ark of God was captured by the Philistines. They must have concluded that the ark of God was no longer carrying His presence.

Even when it seemed as if God was silent, the scriptures shows us that God was not absent.
He rose up and humiliated Dagon, the god of the Philistines and then afflicted them devastatingly. The roar of the storms of life may make it appear like God has left the scene. He never does. He promised not to leave His people uncared for. He did not move for Israel because they were in sin and disobedience. Yet, in his mercy he confounded their enemies. This is the God we serve - a loving and merciful father.

Are you thinking that God might have been absent in that your own situation? He may appear silent for a while. The Lion of Judah will soon roar and prove that He is your refuge and strength and an ever-present help in trouble. Do not give up on your faith. It is not a sprint. It is a marathon and you will win it. God’s seeming silence is not His absence. He is working your success out during your test. You will pass the test with God by your side. Hold on.

PRAYER: Lord, keep me conscious that you are by my side even when I go through the blazing fire and roughest storms in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: The Lord is always with me. He is my ever present help in time of need.
