GOD’S PROVIDENCE

Scripture: Acts 23:12-35

“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you
go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk
through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames
will not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2 (NLT)

Feedback: Share how your words and actions are influencing others for Christ.

God's providence is the means by which He carries out His sovereign plans. It means that God is not distant, passive or unconcerned with the daily events in our lives. Rather, he actively governs the daily events of our lives, usually behind the scenes, without in any way, robbing us of the duty of making responsible choices.

When we face trials, we should trust him to protect us by His providence and to work out His sovereign plan for our lives. God declared that Paul would bear witness for him in Rome but over 40 Jewish leaders decided they would give up their lives to stop him. Paul’s nephew gets wind of the plot and tells Paul, who sends him to the commander. The commander is willing to listen to the boy’s story and acts on it. He calls together 470 armed troops to escort Paul safely to the Roman governor, Felix, at Caesarea. God wins!

No servant of Christ is exempted from trials and opposition. Paul was a notable believer, yet he met severe opposition. Why do you then think you would not face them? Only trust God to work in his providence and plan for you and he will silence every voice against you.

Reflection: In what ways am I not showing gratitude for God’s providence?

PRAYER: Lord, help me trust in your providence in the face of trials and opposition in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: As I trust in God’s providence, he makes a way for me no matter the condition.

This Week Walk of Faith: Spend the rest of the week appreciating God.
