GUILT LEADS TO DESTRUCTION

Scripture: Matthew 27:3-9

“But if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to
forgive us and take our sins away.” 1 John 1:9 (CEV)

Guilt is one of the most destructive forces that can befall anyone. This is principally because it is a self-inflicted wound. The devil knows this and will always exploit this opportunity to bring the victim to total ruin. There is no reason why you should suffer and die in the guilt of past mistakes when
you have received Jesus.

It is natural to see Judas Iscariot only as the “traitor” who betrayed the Son of God but he was also the man who died from overwhelming guilt and remorse for his mistakes (Matthew 27:3- 8). Feeling guilty and remorseful after doing something wrong is a healthy sign of a tender conscience. Remorse should spur you to repentance. However, when you dwell on your mistakes and refuse to release the guilt, forgive yourself or move on; it leads to self-condemnation and ultimately, self-destruction. The story of Judas Iscariot is a glaring example.

If God can forgive you then you too can forgive yourself. You have to trust Him and let go
(1 John 1:9). The gospel is not for condemnation, it is borne out of God’s unfailing love for us and hisdesire to redeem us (Romans 8:1, 38-39). We all make mistakes but wallowing in discouragement and depression is dangerous. It is for this purpose Jesus shed his blood and shares his love with you.
He will cleanse and restore you, you only need to ask for his mercy. He will strengthen and perfect you (2 Corinthians 12:9). Let go of that memory and guilt, and receive the peace and love of God
today.

PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from every guilt and depression in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I am joyful because there is no condemnation for them that are in Christ. I live free from guilt.
