ENCOURAGE YOUR TEAM

Scripture: Acts 20:1-2, 7-16

“Traveling through the country, passing from one gathering to
another, he gave constant encouragement, lifting their
spirits and charging them with fresh hope” Acts 20:2 (MSG)

To encourage someone means to give support, hope and confidence that spurs them to perform. When people are encouraged by others they respect or look up to, they feel valued. It may seem appropriate or easy to berate and scold people when they err; on the contrary, a word of encouragement may be the more productive and wise thing to give.

Paul was a mighty and very busy man of God. Inspite of his status and schedule, he took time out to encourage his team. He nourished, revived and strengthened them with words of hope (Acts 20:1-2). Too many times, leaders recount the things that have not been done well. They focus on the elements that are not working. The leader’s harsh and overbearing nature takes centre stage and things crumble further. No individuals desires to operate in this kind of environment. It is a toxic environment and people do not thrive in them.
Leaders must find a balance that works well for their team. Emulate Paul’s example. He was considerate even toward those who fell asleep while He preached (v7-12).

You can use Paul’s model as you lead. Be a leader that inspires, motivates and nourishes with your words. You will get the best out of those working with you and for you when you encourage them. God will in turn favour and strengthen you. He will bring you men and women who will help you conquer territories like he did for Paul.

PRAYER: Lord, make me a source of encouragement to all around me especially to those I lead in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I am a source of joy and hope to all around me therefore I never lack divine support and encouragement from God.
