BE HOSPITABLE

Scripture: Acts 9:36-42

"But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed;
and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise.
And she opened her eyes..."Acts9:40(KJV)

We live in a world where being good to others is gradually becoming a pipe dream. Hospitality has
long been thrown out of the dictionaries of so many people. There is a heavy wave of greed and avarice blowing all over the world in the name of capitalism and free market economy. Men now prefer to heap up wealth for their progenies than to help their neighbour. It has become ancient to be kind and generous.

Tabitha also known as Dorcas died as a result of an illness. The wailings and tears of the widows who were beneficiaries of her kindness and generosity must have compelled Peter to cry to God. I believe God also saw the need for Tabitha to remain alive and continue her good works. Her generosity commanded the attention of heaven and she was brought back to life.

I remember when a pastor of ours passed on. During the procession, I overhead someone asking ‘how many people died’- because of the huge turnout. His hospitality and generosity was speaking on his behalf even after he was gone. Maybe your previous philanthropic acts didn't yield expected returns. Don't give up now. Your generous deeds might just be the evidence God needs to keep you alive.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to not be weary in well doing in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I shall not be weary in doing good to others. I am sure to reap because I will not faint.
