THE JOY OF HOPE

Scripture: Romans 5:1-5

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13 (KJV)

Humans are limited by time, space, the senses and knowledge. These limits make us oblivious to other things happening beyond our perception. Therefore, we need to believe and depend on the unlimited God to help us and then hope that things are working for our good (Jer. 29:11).

Hope is the patient anticipation of a favourable outcome.
The bible calls this outcome Joy (Prov. 10:28). That means our hope will bring us joy and this is true because if you had a miracle right now, you would rejoice. Hoping would be easier if we could avoid grumbling, complaining and sulking. Complaining displeases God (Num. 11.1) because it is faithless and without faith it is impossible to please God. The kind of hope God expects of us infuses strength in our bones to hold on no matter what because we know in whom we have put our trust (Neh. 8:10b).

Do not think you can be joyful in difficult situations by your own will or discipline, Joy is a fruit of the spirit. In order to have the joy of hope, you need to spend time in God’s presence where there is fullness of Joy (Ps 16:11). This is where the Holy Spirit can reveal to you the glory God has planned for you. It will leave you with unspeakable joy (1 Cor. 2:9-10).

PRAYER: Lord, fill me up with unspeakable joy, by the Holy Spirit in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I believe God and hope joyfully to receive the answers to my prayers.
