Scripture: Ecclesiastics 3:1-9
“And the children of Issachar, which were men that had
understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.”
1 Chronicles 12:32a (KJV)
We live in a time bound earth, hence, we are time
bound. Time is governed by certain laws. You must understand and master these laws if you must
maximise your time. Time is universal for everybody. 24
hours is same in length and quality in Port Harcourt, Nigeria,
as it is in Kiev, Ukraine. Time cannot be reversed or paused.
Time comes in seasons, each of which has its own
opportunities and challenges. How much of these laws have
you mastered and applied in your use of time?
We cannot afford to lead a careless life. God created each
one of us with a purpose in mind, which is to fulfil our roles in
advancing his Kingdom. Unfortunately, many of us spend our
lifetime chasing shadows, thereby missing out on God’s
purpose and plans for us, and ultimately jeopardizing
eternity. There is no better time to accomplish our plans and
carry out our tasks than now because opportunity will not wait
for those who fail to act on them. Time is a gift that we must
grab with both hands.
God demands that we become wise and make the best use
of the time that we have because the days are evil (Eph. 5:15-
16). If we must redeem the time, we must act swiftly and act
now. How best can you use your time? Use it in service to
God. Give quality time in fellowship with God. Serve in the
house of God. Win souls. Become like the sons of Issachar
who became leaders over many because they understood
the times. Redeem the time and enjoy a fulfilled life.
