Scripture: Matthew 9:9-13
“…For I am not come to call the righteous
but sinners to repentance.”
Matthew 9:13b (KJV)
Jesus’ mission on earth was to save the lost and he acted
strategically to accomplish it. He spoke to anyone even those widely considered unrighteous and unclean. His
strategy yielded good results as many tax collectors and
sinners came to Jesus and his disciples and accepted him as
Lord over their lives.
One of these sinners was Matthew who
would later become one of his disciples.
When we focus on negatives, we, sometimes, allow what
should be an advantage to us become a distraction or a
disadvantage. Jesus did nothing wrong when he sat with and
ate in the midst of people who others considered unworthy.
After all, they were the reason he came to earth. How would
he reach out and influence them if he did not relate with and
engage them in conversation? In fact his life was such a light
in the darkness, it attracted these ‘undeserving’ people to
him.
How can you reach out to the unsaved if you are critical of
them? We must refuse to become judgmental of unbelievers
like the hypocritical Pharisees were. Believers must become
spiritual physicians and act like Jesus. He went about
spreading the love of God to others so he can win many over
to the saving grace of God. We must act strategically to grow
God’s kingdom. Rather than complain about sinners, create
a platform to reach them. Lend a shoulder they can cry on.
Focus on attracting them so you can shine brightly the light of
Jesus upon their lives and bring change.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask for grace to
remain focused on the
mission to save the
lost in Jesus name.
FAITH BYTE: I am a spiritual physician.
I strategically grow
God’s kingdom with love.
