DO NOT HIDE THE PROBLEM

Scripture: Esther 4:1-4

Rebuke a wise man and he will love thee.” Proverbs 9:8b (KJV)

Every human being desires to be accepted, loved and respected in their environment. This need for acceptance, most times, drives us into presenting what we believe to be ‘acceptable’ behaviour or attitude. In a bid to display our ‘good’ side, we tend to hide what we consider our ‘bad’ side.

Esther naturally tried to cover up the ‘unacceptable’ appearance of Mordecai by sending him some fresh clothes
to replace the sackcloth he had put on which Esther may have perceived as unacceptable (v4). Mordecai, however, rejected the clothes. He wanted to deal with the issue. He did not want to cover it up and when he refused to do so, he got the change he sought.

Whatever you believe to be your bad side or a weakness needs to be dealt with. When you expose it, you find grace for help (Ps 19:12). Do not wallow in shame, silence or fear because you feel other people would laugh, ridicule or turn you into a topic for discussion. Channel the energy you exert trying to cover up to dealing with the issue. Give the Holy Spirit a chance in your life to transform the bad to good. He alone can strengthen your weakness and make you the best you can be but he can only do so when you recognize the need for a change and ask for his help.

PRAYER: Lord, do a work that only you can do in me that I may become a better person in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE:  The Holy Spirit lives in me and he transforms me for good.
