ACHIEVING GREATNESS

Scripture: Mark 10:35-45
“And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.” Mark 10:44 (KJV)

Alot of people, even those in church, desire and seek positions of authority in order to become great and influential. As believers, our hope for power and influence should be accompanied with the desire to make a difference and better the lives of as many people as possible.

John and his brother, James, sought for positions they felt they were qualified for. They wanted a position in glory by the right hand of Jesus. They had no knowledge of what it took to occupy such a position. Jesus reminds us that such a position required sacrifice and a life of service to others (Mk. 10:39, 43). He instructed them that the one who wishes to lead must first become a servant. It is in the place of service that he will learn and be prepared for leadership.

Achieving greatness starts with serving others in humility. Rather than pray for position, pray for the grace and enablement to serve just like Solomon did. When God sees your hunger and yearning for service, he will create the circumstance and atmosphere that you require to operate. Your greatness is in the place of stooping low in service. When you decrease to serve, God will increase your reach, impact and influence.

PRAYER
Lord, grant me the grace to serve even in the lowliest of places that your name may be glorified, in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE
I am available; for every opportunity to serve the Body of Christ.
