Scripture: Matthew 17:9-13
“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools,
but like those who are wise.”
Ephesians 5:15 (NLT)
In our quest to meet our daily needs and desires in life, we
can become insensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. The thoughts and pursuit of a better and more satisfying
life engulf our minds at the expense of our spiritual growth
and well-being.
As Christians, we ought to spend some
quality time with the Holy Spirit in other to understand God’s
plan and purpose for our life at every point in time.
Jesus’ response to the question his disciples asked him
about the return of Elijah reveal that it's possible to be
preoccupied with your daily activities and not notice when
something significant happens. The disciple’s question
showed they were unaware that the person they were
expecting as a sign to the coming of the Messiah, had
already come. It took a close relationship with Jesus to make
them see that the expected sign was John the Baptist (v13).
Many Christians today are in similar situation, totally
unaware of spiritual events and have become susceptible to
the devices of the devil.
It is dangerous to go through life unaware of the spiritual
import of happenings and events. As Christians, we must
stay sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. He is our
gateway to revelation and understanding. Build an intimacy
with God by developing the habit of spending quality time in
study and meditation and God, through the Holy Spirit, will
guide you into all truth and show you things to come.
