Scripture: Philippians 4:2-9
“Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives.” Galatians 5:25 (NLT)
Sometimes, the intensity of our daily activities can distract us from noticing how much time we spend dwelling on spiritual matters. Some people go days without engaging with God
in prayer or study. When we profess faith in Christ, we must act based on his demands of us.
True religion is a matter of consciousness. It is a voluntary state of genuine commitment to God. It requires that we come to the point where we are determined to obey and please God on a day to day basis despite what the environment and circumstances tell us. It demands that we live beyond tradition, doctrines and prescriptions of men and instead seek to develop a working and ongoing relationship with God.
We cannot let the issues of life overshadow the most important aspect of who we are. We are first spirits; spirits energized and refueled in the place of fellowship with God (Jn. 15:5). Rather than fix our spiritual life around our schedule, we should incorporate God into our daily lives and activities. Our interaction with God should be geared towards having a working relationship with him rather than as an afterthought. This cannot be achieved on a weekly routine basis but should be based on a practical and daily involvement of the Holy Spirit in all we do. When we do this, we discard the trappings of religion and truly have a relationship with God.
PRAYER: Lord, let my everyday reflect my relationship with you in Jesus name.
FAITH BYTE: I do not act based on the doctrines and traditions of men but develop a genuine relationship with God.
