SUBMIT TO AUTHORITY

Scripture: Genesis 16:1-10
“Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ.” Ephesians 6:5 (KJV)

Feedback: When was the last time I shared my faith with others?

People usually start jobs with good behavior or attitude but do not sustain it throughout the period of the service.
Some show a high level of devotion, commitment, obedience and respect at the beginning but as time goes on, these attitudes begin to wear off; they start misbehaving and portraying attitudes that cannot be condoned in the workplace. This can be due to over-familiarity, complacency due to past achievement, ambition or vainglory. However, in God’s kingdom, how you behave at the end is as important as how well you start.

Hagar thought her status in Abram’s household had changed because she was pregnant for Abram (vs 4). Her attitude changed and she began to despise her mistress. Her action prompted the harsh treatment from Sarai, her mistress. The angel of God put her back on track by instructing her to return and submit to the authority of her mistress.

Do not forget your place or position wherever you find yourself. No matter how much you think you have achieved, it is important that you still maintain a great level of respect and reverence within the boundaries of your position. Always submit to authority. God’s instruction to you today is that you serve your employer or superior with deep respect and obedience. Work for them as though you are working for God, with sincerity of heart and enthusiasm and God will reward you greatly. (Eph 6:5-8).

Reflection: What are the evidences that I am submissive to authority?

PRAYER:
Lord, give me the ability to always show respect and obedience to authority in Jesus name, Amen.

FAITH BYTE:
I submit to authority and respect my superiors.

This Week Walk of Faith:
Obey the great commission, witness to at least 2 people this week.
