Scripture: 1 Samuel 6:1-3
“Plans go wrong for lack of advice;
many advisers bring success.”
Proverbs 15:22 (NLT)
The Philistines experienced untold death, pains, destruction and hardship during the seven months the ark of God was with them (1 Sam. 5:6-9). This prompted the leaders to seek advice from their diviners in order to avert the continuous calamity that had befallen them.
As Christians, it is important that we do not neglect to seek wise counsel especially when we plan to undertake important or life-changing ventures. We can consult professional and/or spiritual mentors and advisors concerning our vocation, career, business, ministry and relationship. With their knowledge, expertise and experience, these people can guide and mentor us to success. The Philistines who never had a relationship with God inquired from their diviners, ‘what shall we do to the Ark of the Lord’? This question was asked because they wanted to deal with their predicament and overcome their challenges.
As a believer, filled with the Holy Spirit, always seek His counsel in every matter notwithstanding the size or extent of the issue. Remember He is within you to give you guidance, success, fruitfulness and satisfaction in every matter. His counsel is supreme and perfect, He makes no mistakes; rely on Him continuously.
PRAYER:
Lord, I receive and rely on you for counsel in Jesus name, Amen.
FAITH BYTE:
God’s counsel is perfect and without mistakes. I rely wholly on it.
