CATCH THOSE FOXES

Scripture: Songs of Solomon 2:13-17

“Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that spoil the vineyards,
for our vineyards are in blossom.” Songs of Solomon 2:15 (ESV)

The bible describes the righteous as a fruitful tree planted by the rivers of waters (Psalms 1:3). If this same tree is planted in an environment that is unsuitable, the tree may rot and die. This underlines the important factor for fruitfulness for the believer. It is a life devoid of sin as it is the greatest hindrance to a vineyard full of blossoming fruit (v15).

It is the duty of every believer to guard against what the scriptures call ‘little foxes”. Foxes usually cause damage when they enter a farm. They damage plants, dig up holes and leave behind their
droppings and debris. The fox’s destructive activity makes the farmer’s toil useless and prevents him from reaping the fruit of his labour. If, as a believer, you allow sin beset you, you are letting the foxes take over. The hidden, habitual sin that you indulge in will weigh down your life and prevent you from reaping the benefits you deserve as a Child of God. Even when no one knows or sees you, the rot in your Christian life will manifest because you will not run as you ought to (Hebrews 12:1).

Stop the onslaught of the foxes before they stop you. Your human power is not enough to help you. Solomon refers to a dove in the cleft of the rock (v14). This is the Holy Spirit who is available to
help you if you will let him. Ask in prayer, fast and pray passionately in tongues. Then allow the word of God to consume your mind and spirit.
