THE ENLIGHTENED HEART

Scripture: Ephesians 1:15-19

“I pray that the eyes of your heart be enlightened in order that you may know the hope of which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints.” Ephesians 1:18 (KJV)

A heart that is not in tune with the spirit of God cannot hear or receive from God. To tap from God, your heart must be illuminated. An illuminated heart is that which is enlightened with God’s thoughts, visions and plans. An enlightened heart is also a heart that is not only transformed and renewed,
but and is very much aware of God’s will (Romans 12: 2).

The depth and quality of your relationship with God is directly dependent on the state of your heart. An untransformed and un-renewed heart is a heart that is not enlightened. A heart beclouded with bitterness, unforgiveness, faithlessness, doubt and fear is not renewed. A heart that is lustful is not enlightened. And a heart that is starved of the word of God is certainly not enlightened!

True transformation begins from the heart. Thus, to change your life, you must first change your heart. To stand firm with God, you must shift your attention from the affairs and cares of this world, and make constant, conscious and deliberate effort to keep your heart focused on the things of God. Daily study the Bible and chew on the word of God consistently. Be in regular communion with the Holy Spirit of God and yield your whole being to his leading always. Also, prayerfully ask God to enlighten your heart with His word as you make these efforts.

PRAYER: Lord, fill me with your Spirit, and make my heart like yours in Jesus name

FAITH BYTE: I have the mind of Christ. The eyes of my heart are enlightened.
