Scripture: Matthew 20:1-16
“Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? To his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.” Romans 14:4 (KJV)
Every one of us is called to serve a unique purpose in the house of God – the church. It is expedient that you focus on your core duty in the house of God; not comparing yourself with anyone else, or trying to do what everyone else is doing rather than what you are called to do. It does not matter how huge or minute your contributions are; or how much value others place on your work.
What matters is for you to stay focused and diligent in calling, not expecting rewards or recognition from man, but from God.
It is a common sight in the household of God to see believers looking up to or comparing themselves others. Some complain and grumble about how they are doing so much and others are doing so little or nothing. Some too, because of the their level of commitment and contributions to their local church, tend to place themselves above everyone else. Paul in his second epistle to the Corinthians, warns that we do not compare ourselves to those who commend themselves, or measure themselves by themselves, for doing so is folly (2 Corinthians 10: 12).
You need to focus on your calling, bearing in mind that it is God who called you and that He has a purpose and plan for asking you to do that which you are doing. Never take your calling for granted or allow anyone make you make light of it. Remember, you will account for all your doings.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to focus on the purpose of your call on my life in Jesus name.
FAITH BYTE: I am focused on the work of God. I will not be distracted.
