ON A MISSION

Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:1-6

“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” 2 Timothy 2:4 (KJV)

Every Christian is a member of God’s army with a core mandate to evangelize. Unfortunately many have lost consciousness of this mandate due to identity crisis. We have so blended in with and conformed to the world that we are no longer on fire for God.
Rather than take the ways of Christ to the world, we have imported its ways to the Church of God.

If we are to pass the truth of God’s word to others, we cannot become entangled in the web of the world. We must not lose focus of Christ’s purpose on earth, which was to save the lost (Luke 19:10). We cannot afford to be distracted by the issues of life or be dissuaded by shame or fear. We have been saved from the darkness of sin and we must be expedient in snatching others from its claws. We must be moved by the passion and love for souls that Jesus displayed. Today, Jesus encourages us with these words,“as the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

God does not stop the church from associating with the world. If he did we would not live on earth. But like Jesus exemplified when he visited Zacchaeus in his home, the purpose for this association should be to draw the lost to God (Luke 19:1-10). See every encounter with the world as an opportunity to shine the light of Jesus farther. Your commitment to save the lost should be unwavering. Like a soldier, you are on a mission and you cannot afford to fail.

PRAYER: Lord, empower me to take up my mission of saving the lost without distractions in Jesus name

FAITH BYTE: I am a faithful soldier in God’s army. I win souls for God’s Kingdom.
