Scripture: Psalms 46:1-11
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:2 (KJV)
There are times in life when it may seem like our efforts hardly yield results. We may be limited by our finances, disappointed by people we respect or discouraged by the actions of people we trust. These painful experiences may come all at the same and we become weighed down and discouraged by our challenges. At such times, we may think of the phrase “when it rains, it pours”.
But the bible assures us that there is help and refuge in God when we feel alone and overwhelmed by our experience.
Paul, at some point in his ministry felt alone and deserted. He encountered a great deal of opposition from Alexander the copper-smith who fought against the spread of the gospel. Paul was left alone, with no help in sight. The Lord, however, stood with him and strengthened him. Though men deserted him, God did not. The bible calls him the one who sticks closer than a brother. He does not only walk through the storm with us, he holds our hands, encourages us and finds us refuge in the midst of the storm.
Are you in a similar situation? Are factors or circumstances negatively affecting your finance, health and family? Have you looked around and it seems there's no one willing to help you? Do not be dismayed, know that God is right there (Psalms 145:14). He is standing by you now ready to step in. Maintain a right standing with God. Call on him in the day of trouble and he will come to your aid.
PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace to put my hope steadfastly in you in Jesus name.
FAITH BYTE: The Lord of host is with me, therefore I succeed in all I do.
