Scripture: Proverbs 2:1-13
“Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures” Proverbs 2:4 (NLT)
Knowledge is gotten through learning and experience but wisdom is a unique gift from God that can be gotten by earnestly seeking for it from God for He alone gives wisdom (v6). If, for example, you realize that your house is sitting on an oil well, nothing else will be relevant until you have dug and discovered the oil. This should be the mindset of any one whose desire is to acquire wisdom.
King Solomon understood the value of wisdom which is why it was the first gift he requested from God once he became king (1 Kings. 3:5-14). This gift did not only make him the wealthiest king of his time, but also enabled him apply his knowledge intelligently to solving problems. Wisdom also manifested in his ability to live peaceable with other nations and his fondness for proverbs which he documented for our benefit and we enjoy even today.
Seek wisdom from God today and enjoy all the treasures that come with it. Apply it in your heart and you will not only understand what it means to fear God (v5a). Your steps will be ordered by the Lord as you will always make wise choices (v11) as you will be saved from any evil that comes your way (v12) and grow the ability to surmount every obstacle you come across. Clear insight and knowledge of God will be yours as things and events will be orchestrated in your favour (v5b). God’s wisdom is available for you if you genuinely seek it from Him.
