USE THE RIGHT WORDS

Scripture: Proverbs 15:1-24

“...And a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” Proverbs 15:23b (KJV)

Feedback: Consider what happen when you pray for others.

We communicate with people everyday as we go about our routine activities using words as our primary tool. Our choice of words in communicating is thus essential as it leaves specific impressions about us and trigger certain reactions from others.
The words we speak are powerful in that they can determine the outcome or experience we enjoy from our interaction with others. Although, in many places, cultures and tradition to a great extent determine what and how people speak and interact with others, one can never go wrong with ensuring that their words are always kind (Proverbs 15:23). Careless words spoken in anger or jest can hurt others and cause conflict. Our intention may not have been to hurt the other party but when we speak unguardedly, we risk causing avoidable tension.

Remember that a gentle answer turns away wrath and a good word at the right time brings joy (Proverbs 15:1, 23). Keep guard over what you say. No matter how harmless a statement may seem to you, consider its impact on the others before you use it. Because a believer is the salt of the earth, make every word you speak tasteful.

Reflection: What is it that provokes me to make careless statements?

PRAYER: Lord, help me to always say kind words. Holy Spirit take control of my tongue in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I have the grace of God upon my life, therefore, my words are guided by the Holy Spirit.\

This Week Walk of Faith: This week, spend time daily in praying for God to guard your tongue.
