OBTAIN A GOOD REPORT

Scripture: 1 Timothy 3:1-16

“Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.” 1 Timothy 3:7 (KJV)

The bible recognizes that in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver but also of wood and earth, some to honour and others to dishonour (2 Timothy 2:20). This implies that, although many come to church and profess to love and serve God, their actions may not please God or bring glory to him. This is why it goes on to warn that everyone who names the name of the Lord should depart from iniquity (2 Timothy 2:19).
The Christian lifestyle demands that we develop and live exemplary lives. It is a lifestyle that demands discipline. We cannot afford to bring the name of the Lord to disrepute by our actions. We must walk our talk and live in a way that will encourage people around us to become curious about what makes the difference in our lives. This curiosity will either lead them to seek God or prepare their heart for the gospel.

As a believer, if you desire to lead others to pursue Christ, you must have a good report from those around you. Your life must be a testament to the good that comes from choosing God. You become a useful channel when you live your life in fearful acknowledgement that you serve a holy God who wants you to be a model of him on earth (2 Timothy 2:21). Aspire to be a vessel of honour for God’s use. Avoid a lifestyle that ties your tongue and hampers your ability to share the good news with others.

PRAYER: Lord, put me in line with your word and teachings that will cause me to grow in you in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I study the word of God daily to show myself approved
