HEART OF THE MATTER

Scripture: Proverbs 4:21-27

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it [are] the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23 (KJV)

There is something really special about the heart of man. The prophet Samuel revealed that God does not evaluate people by outward appearance, but he looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). The heart can also be blind thus apostle Paul prayed for the saints that "the eyes of your heart may be enlightened" (Ephesians 1:18).
God wants us to trust in him with all our heart; and never our own understanding (Proverbs 3: 5) and to store his word in our heart (Psalm 119:11).

Jesus declared that we should love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). When describing the kingdom of God, Jesus revealed the things that come out of the heart can defile a man (Matthew 15: 16-20). He also taught that where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (Luke 12:34). These scriptures show that the heart is the engine room of our lives and will determine how our lives turn out.

What is in your heart? Do you load it up with useful things or perverseness? Are there things you have stored up in your heart that require total removal? No matter the state of your heart, you can be fully restored if you ask for God’s help. Begin a turnaround in your life today by following the guidelines in Philippians 4:8 to secure your heart.

PRAYER:Lord, guard my heart from every perverseness of the enemy in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: I guard my heart with all diligence, I think on the things that are true and pure always.
