Scripture: Esther 2:8-17
“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery…which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” 1 Corinthians 2:8-9 (KJV)
Mordecai advised Esther to hide her identity from the Persians to protect her because she was vying to be queen in a hostile and foreign land where they were exiles! Although, God had destined her to be queen so she would save Israel in due course, revealing her identity too soon may have cut short God’s plan for his people. Mordecai knew this, so he urged her to keep her identity a secret. He knew Esther’s had an advantage over others because she was a Jew.
Jesus faced a similar situation (Mk. 8:29-30) so he warned his disciples not to reveal his identity. Paul confirms this, when he said they would not have crucified Jesus if he they had known who he was (1 Cor. 2:9). Jesus had to fulfil purpose so his identity was kept secret until the time was right.
Your success lies in knowing who you are. Mordecai knew that as the people of God they had an advantage over others so he treasured and protected that advantage. There are times when you may have to be quiet about being a believer in order to protect your assignment and achieve God’s plan for your life. Let your character and actions, however, reflect Christ. Let it send a loud and clear message of who you are - the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus - so you can draw many to salvation and fulfill God’s purpose for your life.
PRAYER:
Lord, by your grace, nothing shall hinder me from fulfilling my assignment on earth in Jesus name, Amen.
FAITH BYTE:
I achieve God’s purpose for my life because I know who I am.
