“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: ...” Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
Today commemorates the day that Jesus Christ left the glory of Heaven to be born in a stable as a human being. What a sharp contrast it must have been for Him to enter into this corrupt world from His indescribable splendour and glory. But He had to come because of the love He has for mankind.
The very word of God became flesh and dwelt amongst men. Luke’s gospel describes the invasion of God’s radiant glory that manifested in the sky, the harmonious heavenly orchestra and the sonorous voices of angels, singing the good news of Christmas; “fear not; for I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all the people” (v10) – including your very self.
The angels were saying “glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (v14). Many have argued that Jesus was not born in December, but that He was born in some other month. They may be right; however, the key issue is that Christ was born and has brought peace and goodwill to all men. Let’s celebrate His birth, and reflect on why He came. May the peace and goodwill from God abide with you now and always.
PRAYER:
Lord, grant me the strength to share the goodnews of your coming to the world in Jesus name.
FAITH BYTE:
I remain grateful to God; and I pledge my allegiance to Him and to pursue His course here on earth.
