THE RIGHT WORK ETHICS

“Master, provide your servants (employees) with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a master in heaven”  Colossians 4:1 (ASV)

Organizations and homes will always require people to carry out tasks that will help them achieve their varying objectives. The success of this working relationship between the employer and the employee rests on each of the party fulfilling their part of the obligation agreed upon.

Every employee is expected to put in a day’s work every day and every employer is expected to pay a fair wage for services provided to them (Col 4:1). There should be a balanced degree of reliance on both sides. When this mutual reliance becomes imbalanced or one-sided in any way, problems will inevitably occur as either party may feel cheated.

As a believer who is employed, you should work with total commitment and devotion to your establishment. Do not work only when you are being watched otherwise, it would be eye service which is against God’s word (Ephesians 6:6). If you are an employer, try as much as is in your power to pay your hired hands as agreed because the labourer is worthy of his wages (1 Tim. 5:18). As a child of God, be an example to others by creating an atmosphere for a rewarding and mutually beneficial relationship in the workplace.

PRAYER:
Lord, help me to put in all of my best in whatever capacity I find myself in Jesus name, Amen.

FAITH BYTE:
I fear God; therefore, I treat people with whom I work with fairness.
