Scripture: 2 Samuel 9:1-11
“And David said unto him, fear not, for I will surely show thee kindness…’’ 2 Samuel 9:7 (KJV)
Kindness is one of the fruits of the Spirit. It is a virtue from God to bring succour to the body of Christ. It is a state of showing charitable behaviour. Many believing Christians find it extremely difficult to extend kindness to fellow men. Others, however, recognize that God has blessed them to be a blessing. These ones share the blessings that God has bestowed on them with others without hesitation.
David demonstrated this attitude towards Mephibosheth. Despite Saul’s mistreatment of David, he sought out Mephibosheth and restored all of Saul’s land to him. He even allowed Mephibosheth, a lame man, to eat at his table. Kindness goes beyond giving material items or financial gifts and sponsorship. It includes showing genuine care and concern for people’s welfare and wellbeing. Also saying a prayer or word of encouragement for people in need of it is a great start on the journey to extending kindness.
Child of God, you do not need to be a king or the richest man in the world before you can show kindness. God has blessed you just where you are. Use your level to show kindness to the less fortunate in your own little way. Do not harden your heart or be greedy with what God has placed in your hands. Rather, glorify God by sharing it with others. Endeavour to be kind to someone today and be richly blessed as you do this.
PRAYER:
Lord, help me to show kindness to others in every way I can in Jesus name, Amen.
FAITH BYTE:
I exhibit the fruit of kindness to everyone around me and I enjoy the blessings that come with it.
