The word translated "Death" in our text today in the original Hebrew text is in the plural reading "DEATHS" indicating that Jesus died twice on the cross. Firstly, he died spiritually, the moment that God laid our sin on him. At that hour, the sinless Son of God became blemished with the sin of the whole world. Notice that a strange phenomenon occurred in Luke 23:44
"it was now the sixth hour and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour." All of creation literally mourned the cruel fate of her creator. The sun of righteousness was darkened by our sin. In this dark hour, Jesus cried "My God, my God why hast thou forsaken me”.

After He took on our sin, He was now ready to die physically. At this point Jesus proclaims, "It is finished” and dies on the cross.

Satan's age long dominion had been crushed by the humble lamb of sacrifice. The Lion of the tribe of Judah was born. The tyrannical reign of sin, sickness and death has been broken. We are redeemed; we are redeemed into righteousness, health and eternal life. Rejoice! This is what Easter is all about.

Reflection: How important is the death and resurrection of Jesus to my faith?

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for paying the penalty of sin on the cross. The reign of death is terminated.

FAITH BYTE: I have been redeemed from the curse of sickness, poverty and death. I am redeemed into health, prosperity and eternal life!

This Week Walk of Faith: Share the power of love and the resurrection of Jesus with at least 2 people this week.
