THANKFULNESS

Scripture: Luke 17:11-19

“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you
who belong to Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)

Thankfulness is a lifestyle that every Christians must cultivate. To be thankful means to be grateful for benefits received. For the Christian, thankfulness is an attitude of gratitude to God in everything, good or bad because it is God’s will (I Thessalonians 5:18). Jesus Christ, though sad at the loss of
Lazarus, still thanked God, not for the loss, but for hearing him, and the result of that was the raising of Lazarus from death (John 11:40-44).
God places value on our thankfulness, and how much benefits we can derive from it. Ten lepers were healed of leprosy, but only one of them was made whole, because he chose to be thankful to God (Luke 17:15-19).

Being thankful to God, especially in seemingly impossible or hopeless situations, is an expression of our faith in Him. Thankfulness brings multiplication and increase (Mark 6:41), as well as wholeness (Luke 17:19). Have you taken time to count your blessings and be thankful for all of them, before you press God for not yet doing that which you are asking of Him?

Thankfulness must be done in humility, with gratitude, submission, and total faith in God’ faithfulness. You must strive to always be thankful to God, especially when you are in seemingly
impossible or challenging situations. Why not cultivate the lifestyle of genuine thankfulness to God today? Remember, you have a lot to be thankful for.

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for your love, faithfulness and tender mercies to me, in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE:  I am blessed because I am always thankful.
