THE BEAUTY OF HUMILITY

Scripture: Matthew 18:1-6

“By humility and fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life” Proverbs 22:4 (KJV)

One of the strongest traits of a child’s character is humility. Every child tends to love and trust everyone. They hold no grudge and seek a cordial relationship with everyone. This is the same attitude and lifestyle God expects from every Christian.
Infact, Jesus said if we do not become like a child, we will not enter the Kingdom of heaven (v3)

What then does it mean to be humble? It means not seeking self glorification, esteeming others better than yourself, giving respect to all and obeying all authority (Phillipians 2:3-8). This does not mean you should belittle yourself or have an inferior complex. It simply means that no matter your position or status, you are willing to stoop low to the level of a child if need be.

God has promised to exalt the humble. He has also reserved riches and life for the humble. It is therefore more beneficial to stoop low and allow God to lift you up. Remember how God rewarded Mordecai for his humility and the tragedy that befell Haman as a result of his pride. God indeed resists the proud and gives more grace to the humble (James 4:6). Do not let your achievement puff you up and give you a bloated sense of self. Allow the transforming power of God’s word break down the walls of pride in you so you can experience the humbling power of grace Christ offers.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to live my life in humility in Jesus name.

FAITH BYTE: My life reflects the beauty and glory of God because I have the mind of Christ.
