Scripture: Judges 7:1-8
“For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Matthew 22:14 (NKJV)
Alot of people answer the call of God but only a few meet
the criteria of whom God will choose. It is not enough to merely answer the call of God, we must show
ourselves approved for the assignment at hand. God will not
send someone who has not been tried and proven to war with
the enemy
. This is why the place of preparation is just as
important as the assignment we are called to fulfill.
Of the 32,000 men who heeded the call of God, 22,000 were
immediately disqualified for not meeting the criteria. These
disqualified men were people who were afraid of the battle
ahead. They had not been tested or proven, so God could not
use them. God led the Israelites out of Egypt through a
delayed route because they needed to be trained for war else
they would have returned back to Egypt in fear. Abraham
used servants born and trained in his house to deliver Lot.
You must be prepared in the place of training so God can use
you effectively.
The 22,000 failed in the test of boldness because they were
afraid. The 10,000 remained because they were bold. The
bible says that the righteous shall be as bold as a lion. The
fearful will not enter the kingdom of God (Rev. 21:8). Fear is
the opposite of faith and God cannot choose people who do
not have faith and confidence in him. Build and develop your
faith through God’s word so you will be prepared and ready
anytime God calls you for an assignment.
